Artist Titika Røtkjær sits on a balustrade facing away from the viewer

Hello everyone. This week’s Friday feature is the photography of Danish artist, Titika Røtkjær (@titika.vision). The images I have chosen for the gallery are from the series Notes From My Inner Circus. Here Titika works with self-portraits, double-exposure techniques and other digital effects to portray visual metaphors of the duality of self. Her narratives are often based on dreams and stories but also on her experiences of depression and subsequently recovering from a serious illness; both of which brought her back into photography.

Titika plays with the concepts of light and dark in her photography, using only high-contrast monochrome. She also uses it in how she depicts herself in her images; appearing as opaque and in black clothes where she inhabits the real world, and in white clothes with an ethereal translucency to represent her spiritual and positive side.

I’m sure you’ll agree that Titika’s images are deeply moving. You can see more of her amazing work on her Instagram feed. Be sure to follow her and most importantly, hit that Like button!

Thank you for tagging and sharing your work with us, Titika!
